Thursday, May 16th, 5pm-8pm. All ages! Bring the family!

Bring the entire family for an evening out in the Joslyn Castle neighborhood along 40th Street, between Dodge and Cuming Streets. District partners Cathedral Arts Project Omaha, Cali Commons, Joslyn Castle & Gardens, and the Joslyn Castle Neighborhood Association, are looking forward to opening up our venues for an evening of art, food, and fun!

• Joslyn Castle & Gardens will host a Vendor’s Fair on the lawn, featuring the work of local and regional artists and crafts-peoples. In addition to the fair, the Castle’s Carriage House will be open for patrons to view Frida and Diego, an art show, curated by Opera Omaha. The show is inspired by, and celebrates, Opera Omaha’s performance of “El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego” (“The Last Dream of Frida and Diego”). Dripps BBQ food-truck will be on site for the artwalk.

Inside the Castle, view "In Conversation: The Artworks of Susette 'Bright Eyes' Tibbles La Flesche and Sarah Rowe," a new exhibition on the second floor. Art-talk scheduled for 7pm with Artist Sarah Rowe and Elizabeth Lovejoy Brown, Executive Director of the Dr. Susan La Flesche Picotte Center.

• Cathedral Arts Project: In the Sunderland Gallery of the Cultural Center: Anthony Deon
Deon's imagination is limitless, and he delights in bringing together worlds that would not exist naturally. He describes his exhibit, titled The Garden of Dhya, as “a representation of finding peace in meditation… an inter-world filled with greens, flowers, and wildlife all in harmony with each other. A perfect place where my memories and thoughts can live together unprovoked by negative emotions. My protected garden."

• Cali Commons: The gallery in Cali Commons features over a dozen local artists, each with their unique and creative interpretation to the theme: “Spring.” Enjoy a hosted, light reception.

• Joslyn Castle Neighborhood Association: The JCNA will have a booth at Cali Commons and will feature the work of artists and creatives from the neighborhood.

The Castle & Cathedral District is only made possible from a designation by the Nebraska Arts Council. Learn more about the new district here: https://www.artscouncil.nebraska.gov/castle-and-cathedral-district/
