Castle & Cathedral District Art Walk

Thursday, July 18th, 5pm-8pm. All ages!

Bring the entire family for an evening out in the Joslyn Castle neighborhood along 40th Street, between Dodge and Cuming Streets. District partners Cathedral Arts Project Omaha, Cali Commons, Joslyn Castle & Gardens, and the Joslyn Castle Neighborhood Association, are looking forward to opening up our venues for an evening of art, food, and fun!

•    CAP: Cathedral Arts Project, in collaboration with Saint Cecilia Cathedral, presents “Sacred Garments & Artifacts.”  This exhibit showcases the fashion and design of garments and artifacts of the Catholic Church spanning more than 3 centuries.

The exhibit is followed by a special docent-led tour around the Cathedral, including the Nash Chapel, which features the Spanish Colonial Collection of art. An added feature is an inside look at the Cathedral's landmark pipe organ by Martin Pasi, including the console and the choir loft, the bellows room, and a view of the inner workings of the instrument. Tours at 5pm and 6:30pm.

•    Cali Commons: Cali Commons hosts their July art show featuring local and regional artists, and best of show prize will be awarded. Evening includes a special performance by Sarah Selders!

•    JCNA: The Joslyn Castle Neighborhood Association are guests of Cali Commons. Look for their information booth!

•    Joslyn Castle & Gardens: 

-Opening of "Labyrinth" art show on the second floor of the Castle! Features the art work of Nash Bellows and Charlene Potter

-Open gallery hours for: “Iconic Omaha: Mid-Century Graphic Design” ft. the archives of Hutcheson Displays, Inc.  in the Carriage House

-Architecture on Tap: Dundee presentation in the Music Room. Reservations required. 

-Dripps BBQ Food Truck

-Art vendors on the lawn, featuring paintings, jewelry, ceramics, and more!

-Live music by classical guitarist Matt Sheppard
