TEDxOmaha: "Placemaking with Sidney Gnann"
Our engagement with places and buildings is strong. Why?
This is what we asked ourselves when we chose the theme ‘Time to Engage’ for TEDxOmaha 2018. We knew that this was one of many facets of how we engage, disengage and reengage in the world in which we live, work and play. It is part of the complexity in our communities, at a local, national or global level. So, we decided we need to take a year to explore this idea.
We invite you to join us on this ‘journey and adventure’ as we make our first stop at Joslyn Castle. Here we are going to explore what does ‘engagement’, ‘disengagement’ and ‘reengagement’ mean when we talk about places, about buildings, about tangibles and intangibles that make, forge and bond communities.
Sidney Gnann, Executive Director of Joslyn Castle will be our host, and lead us through the maze of placemaking - an eye-opening and intriguing discussion leading to deeper investigation and reflection. So, come prepared to think, engage, reframe, and share, and find out what ‘place’ means to the Joslyn Castle, and what it means to you, your neighbors and the community.
