This Old Castle: Lambrecht Glass Studio Excursion
For our January installment, we are excited to head down to Lambrecht Glass Studio for a special behind-the-scenes look at the facility and to check in on the progress of the restoration of the Joslyn Mausoleum stained glass window.
Prior to their deaths, the George and Sarah Joslyn commissioned a stunning art-glass window to be displayed in their Forest Lawn Cemetery mausoleum. This is a "sister" window to the piece that currently resides in the Joslyn Castle Music Room. In recent years, the mausoleum window sustained significant damage that required a total restoration.
Thankfully, Omaha is home to the talented Jenna Lambrecht, who is running her family business Lambrecht Glass Studio. Jenna and her team are in the midst of the restoration process on the window, and have allowed our This Old Castle group a rare peek at the process. While in the Lambrecht Glass workshop, you'll also get a chance to take a look at their other current projects and commissions, and ask your questions about maintenance and restoration of historic windows.
Attendees should wear good shoes and warm clothes. Due to space, capacity is limited and registration is required.
This Old Castle is presented in partnership with Preserve Omaha and the Nebraska State Historical Society.
