Join us Friday, December 6, for the opening reception of Watie White’s “One Degree of Separation” art show!
“One Degree of Separation” Exhibit:
Watie’s culminating public art project is a diverse look at the dynamic characters that comprise our community consisting of 100 portraits of individuals he personally connected with throughout the duration of his Castle & Cathedral District artist residency. Models include the line cook from Lisa’s Radial Cafe, the neighborhood mailman, students from local schools, and fellow creatives he has encountered during his tenure.

About the artist:
Watie White is an Omaha based artist who works in the fields of printmaking, painting, and socially-engaged art. Watie earned his Bachelors in Fine Arts at the School of the Arts Institute of Chicago and his Masters in Fine Arts at American University. Watie’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the Dixon Gallery and Gardens, the Frist Center for the Arts, Crystal bridges of American Art and the Joslyn Art Museum. He has also been featured in New American Paintings, Almagre, OYEZ Review, Omaha Magazine, and the Omaha World Herald. Watie’s studio has produced recent public art projects in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity, InCommon Community Development, Justice for Our Neighbors, Omaha Healthy Kids Alliance, Omaha Housing Authority as well as 15 public and private schools throughout the Omaha community.
