Castle & Cathedral District Art Walk
The newly-designated Castle & Cathedral District is excited to welcome the community to our first-ever Art Walk, Thursday, September 14 from 5pm-8pm!
Bring the entire family for an evening out in the Joslyn Castle neighborhood along 40th Street, between Dodge and Cuming Streets. District partners Cathedral Arts Project, Cali Commons, Joslyn Castle & Gardens, and the Joslyn Castle Neighborhood Association (JCNA), are looking forward to opening up our venues for an evening of art, food, and fun!
Your Art Walk includes:
Cathedral Arts Project at the Sunderland Gallery – Join us for the opening of “Plein Air,” a new exhibit featuring local plein air artists including Paula Wallace, Tim Hantula, Janet Vadon, Marcia Wilson Holliway, Julie Seevers, Kathleen Keller, Roberta Kramer, and more. Wine and cheese will be served.
Cali Commons - Artist September Show featuring an open-call exhibition of local creatives. Want to participate? There’s an open call for original art through September 11. Find the link below to submit an original piece!
Joslyn Castle & Gardens – Meet our new district artist-in-residence Watie White and visit his latest exhibition in our Carriage House! Exhibitions and demonstrations from photographer Chris Cosmos and live painting from plein air artist Danny Sabra. Tour our Unceded Native Garden in the northeast corner of the property and view an exhibition from the Unceded Artist Collective in the Carriage House.
Artist Tracy Haas will share her original works, as well as answer questions about her design process for the new Castle & Cathedral District brand identity. Claire Caswell of You Do Voodoo and Wicked Raven Art will have a booth of folk art for sale. Martin Pugh of Design Bindery will lead a demonstration of hot silver journal pressing.
Opera Omaha will have a booth showcasing their upcoming season with information on how to get involved. History Nebraska's Betty Gillespie will be on hand with information on historic resources and programs offered by the State!
Vickie Hughes, a glass artist from Hot Shops, will be on hand to exhibit and sell her art.
In addition, there will be an outdoor bar, and Dripps BBQ stand. Our friends at Refugee Women Rising will be hosting an open house!
Offutt Manor: Our friends at the Offutt Manor are hosting a plein air art show featuring the works of artist Leela Bruner on display throughout the home. This is an excellent opportunity to explore the stately historic home!
Across Dodge Street in Blackstone District, our friends at Link Gallery & Workshop with be hosting an open house in the gallery space.
