This Old Castle Excursion: In the Shop, and In the Field

Old home ownership is not for the faint of heart (trust us, we know!), but we're here to help!
We've teamed up with our friends at the Nebraska State Historical Society and Preserve Omaha to bring you a series designed to demystify maintaining and preserving your old home or building. Join us for This Old Castle as we learn from the best experts in town.
Let's hit the road and meet with experts in architectural salvage and tour a restoration project home of one of our This Old Castle regulars!
Join us Saturday, June 7th from 1pm-4pm for a multi-stop adventure!
1pm-2:30pm: First, we'll tour the storied architectural salvage destination, Conner's Architectural Antiques (1624 South 17th St. Lincoln, NE 68502) for a personal tour of the collection by owner Sid Conner. Conner's Architectural Antiques has specialized in architectural artifacts and salvaged building items for over 40 years. The extensive inventory includes hundreds of light fixtures, hardware, stained glass windows, fireplace mantles, wrought iron gates and fencing, woodwork, trim, flooring and over 600 doors.
3pm-4pm: Next, we'll get to experience preservation in progress at the 1897 Italianate-style home of longtime This Old Castler Roger Barber in Greenwood, NE. Roger has utilized many of the lessons learned at This Old Castle to restore the home, which he purchased a couple years ago and has been rehabilitating ever since. On the tour, Roger will share his experiences with survey work, determining what to do yourself and where to use sub contractors, addressing asbestos and mold, demolition, incorporating salvaged materials, and much more! Plus, you'll get to poke around a beautiful old home in a sweet little town.
This excursion has a limited capacity and registration is required.
This excursion is pending for AIA HSW CEU credits.
*prior to the Conner's tour, there will be an OPTIONAL 11:30am-12:30pm lunch meet-up at Honest Abe's Burgers and Freedom, downtown Lincoln (126 N. 14TH STREET LINCOLN, NE 68508).
