Featured Talk: For the Love of Art: Stories of Joslyn Art Museum’s Collection.
The formation of the art collection at Joslyn Art Museum is a fascinating story, filled with admirable and interesting characters whose actions were guided by idealism, generosity, and civic pride. In this program, Taylor J. Acosta, Ph.D., Chief Curator and Willis A. Strauss Curator of European Art will share some of this museum history: from the culture of art appreciation in Omaha at the turn of the century to the founding of the museum by Sarah Joslyn in 1931, and the contributions of generations of collectors, donors, benefactors, museum directors, and curators who wanted to create a cherished institution for their city.
Attendees will break into smaller groups to create in hands-on workshops.
Groups B & C feature high school students in The Union for Contemporary Art's Mentoring Young Artists program. We are delighted for this collaboration and the opportunity for teachers to learn from these young artists and mentors.
FREE program; limited seating; registration closes December 5.
